It’s been about 3-4 years since I have picked up Tower of God again after dropping the anime at about episode 7-8.
This time I’m going into it through the Manhwa and holy shit, I was not disappointed. I kept hearing about how good the world building was on Tower of God and it being about 800 chapters, I was ready to immerse myself in this world and pretty much read it everyday when I’m in the train, at home, at work etc.
Firstly, let’s get this off the bat, I’m currently like 50 chapters in Season 2 and the difference in art quality has definitely taken a substantial leap forward. Season 1’s art quality was undoubtly rough, to put it nicely. It didn’t really bother me too much but if you are into manhwa for it’s art like solo levelling etc., you shouldn’t have high hopes for this.
Next, the plot. Holy shit. At first, I was going through a lot of what I have already watched so the Crown Game, the game where they fight the ranker etc. But I DID NOT KNOW ABOUT THE END, spoiler alert it starts out as what I expected from ToG and it’s interesting but not really mind-blowing games. It has an interesting power system, good character relationship and dynamics but it was never really something extraordinary to me, thats why i dropped it early on last time. But this time, reading it fully, HOLY SHIT this was something different. The ending left so many unanswered questions (in a good way, i’m not talking about like plot holes here) that after finishing season 1, I continued bingeing like 20 chapters of season 2. Definitely stick to the end and read the season as a whole. As someone still in the early stages of Season 2, I’m so excited and idk where they are gonna go from here which is honestly crazy considering i thought this just gonna be some “climb the tower” avg manhwa.
I will be sticking to it and give my review of season 2 in about 200-300 chapters. HAHAHAHHA
